Rebeca Piña, originally from Mexico, has dreamed of coming to Israel for years. She was finally able to make her dream a reality when she found a hosting family on WWOOF, a network of national organizations that facilitate placement of volunteers on organic farms. Read about her amazing experience volunteering on the farm.
My name is Rebeca, I am originally from Mexico and currently live in Canada, a country of multiculturalism and ethnic diversity. I love travelling and experiencing different cultures and cuisines. Coming to Israel has been my dream for 10 years, as it is a place that is important for so many religions. One day, I just woke up and said: “I'm going to Israel!”. I didn't know how or where to go to but I was determined to go.
Having had previous volunteer experience, I decided to contact Ruach Tova where I found out about the WWOOF program, an organization that connects volunteers with local farms, where they help out with organic gardening, permaculture, green building, cheesemaking, renewable energy, animal care, and much more. The volunteers get food and accommodation from their host in return.

Going to Israel was one of the best decisions and experiences of my life! I cannot express how grateful I am to have had one of my dreams come true. Being in Israel helped me shape my perspective and focus on what's really important in life.
My time in Israel was wonderful! I stayed in a beautiful house with an amazing family in Mata, a small town near Jerusalem. I enjoyed everything from learning how to cook, planting flowers and medicinal plants, to experiencing the culture and the generosity of the Israeli people. My heart will always be with Israel and the family who welcomed me into their home.
